Platform Engineering

Platform engineering is the discipline of building internal platforms that let product teams ship and run software on their own. A platform team provides paved paths such as infrastructure as code, CI/CD templates, Kubernetes clusters, observability and self-service environments, often exposed through a developer portal like Backstage. When it works, developers spend less time on infrastructure plumbing and cloud spend stays under control.
