Microservices

Microservices is an architectural style that splits an application into small, independently deployed services, each owning its own data and talking to the others over HTTP APIs or messaging. It lets separate teams release on their own schedules and scale busy parts on their own, at the cost of network calls, distributed data and much heavier operations. Patterns such as API gateways, service discovery and circuit breakers exist to manage that cost.
