The successful Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi launched Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite at an event in New Delhi. With this smartphone series they are entering the selfie lovers market. They also roped in Katrina Kaif for endorsing the products. The Redmi Y1 which could be seen as the successor to the Redmi 4 series of Xiaomi phones and is the first smartphone in this price segment to feature a 16 MP selfie camera. Y1 lite is priced at Rs 8,999 for the 3 GB + 32 GB RAM variant. The 4 GB + 64 GB variant Y1 will be available for Rs 10,999. Both variants are available in black and gold colour options having 5.5-inch HD IPS display. This series is powered by a Snapdragon 435 chip that’s clocked up to 1.4 GHz. Adreno 505 graphics processor takes care of all the gaming and graphical requirements. It also supports quickcharge 3.0
This device will be powered by the new MIUI 9, a custom ROM from Xioami based on android. The new MIUI 9 is loaded with system-level customizations and optimizations for performance and enhanced battery life. As per information available on official website, MIUI 9 is expected to be available on Redmi Y1 in November 2017.
